Character Info: At fifteen, Rita is already a famed mage who has spent the past five years living alone studying blastia (a mystical ancient technology) in the underground research city of Aspio. She is exactly as socially maladjusted as you would expect from that. Even the other researchers give her a wide berth, possibly due to her tendency to be quick with a fireball spell at anyone who annoys her—which is pretty much everyone, at the beginning of the game, when Rita says outright that she would much rather spend her time with blastia than people. Blastia will never hurt or betray her, and pretty much everyone else in the world is an idiot compared to her genius abilities anyway. She has no particular hesitations about violence or using people, but she's not malicious, just indifferent to anything but her own goals.
Of course, her time with the party forces her to open up a bit. She tags along on adventures with Yuri and Estelle under the excuse that she's using everyone else for her research, since it's easier than traveling alone. She quickly becomes close with Estelle in particular, who she first sees only as a scientific curiosity due to her powers, but very quickly becomes much more emotionally attached to. She continually tries to protect Estelle while not admitting she's doing so, although she's not actually very subtle about it. Eventually she does manage real friendship with the party, albeit in their banter-laden, teasing, and occasionally violent way.
By the climax of the game, Rita has to use her genius to come up with a way to sacrifice all the blastia—getting rid of both the entire world's only real source of power and her own life's research—for a chance at saving the entire world's population from imminent death. By then, though, Rita believes that humans are worthwhile and will work together to find something new, and all of her friends have faith that Rita will be able to make it work.
Although that doesn't mean she won't still punch them or set them on fire if they annoy her.
Old Game Info: n/a
Abilities (before Powercap): She's an overpowered mage with a lot of offensive elemental spells. A full list. She also uses a chain/whip and a book for melee fighting, although that's significantly less effective.
Abilities (after Powercap): She will have normal human abilities with her chain and book. That is, she'll be able to hit things with them. She'll have to contract with a god for her magic! Which she will want to do pretty much immediately, because she can't last very long without Fireball. However I imagine she'll be limited to her novice spells, or potentially substantially toned-down versions of higher-level spells as appropriate to whoever she makes a deal with.
Items Brought In: A whip and a book.

Rita and Estelle's intro at Pandora's. Pandora's is a universe-spanning bar with a surrounding area full of doors. There are doors to isolated areas from all the canons represented, and Vesperia's door leads to the coliseum!
-Survey.
Introduce yourself in a few sentences.
I'm the genius mage Rita Mordio. I can figure pretty much anything out if you give me enough time to study it, and I don't take kindly to stupidity. Is there anything else you need to know?
Describe yourself physically.
Why the hell do you need to know that? People know me by my reputation, and that has nothing to do with how I look.
What was your childhood like?
Well, it wasn't exactly easy. I spent a lot of time by myself. But I ended up able to settle down with my research, and that's the important part.
Who is most important to you, and why?
Estelle. She's an amazing person, both magically and—personally, I guess. She's smart and kind and just... amazing, even if she's kind of stupid about putting herself in danger sometimes.
What's your biggest pet peeve?
Do I have to pick one?
Do you consider yourself an optimistic or a pessimist? Why?
I'm a realist. Either optimism or pessimism means deliberately misjudging the future according to your perspective, and I pride myself on my judgment. It's best to have as close to an accurate picture of what will happen as possible.
Where, or how, did you learn your most important skills?
I taught everything important to myself, of course.
Do you think world peace is possible?
What would that even mean? Everyone getting along and never fighting with each other? Please. It might be possible to stop having wars for a while, but there are always going to be conflicts. Especially so long as the world is filled with so many idiots.
Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I'm not exactly going to avoid it when people are being stupid and wrong right in front of me. Of course l argue with people.
What turns you on the most?
A-Are you serious? I'm not answering this question!
Anything else you'd like to say?
You really need some better questions.
